About Behavioral Health Hawaii in Kihei Plaza
Behavioral Health Hawaii was a provider of outpatient addiction treatment services in Kihei, Hawaii. Services included partial hospitalization programs (PHPs), intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and medication assisted treatment (MAT). Unfortunately, the organization is no longer operating and the clinic is closed.
They accepted most Hawaii insurance plans and had self pay options available as well. They could also provide care as an out of network provider if your insurance allowed it.
Outpatient Detox and Treatment Services on Maui
The clinic offered medically assisted detox on an outpatient basis using MAT. Medications available included Suboxone and Vivitrol, and MAT was accompanied by evidence based therapy to help you establish new mindsets and habits to support a substance free lifestyle.
Other services included individual, family and group therapy, as well as a PHP that delivered five hours of treatment Monday through Friday and an IOP that had three hour sessions available three to five times a week, depending on your needs.
Treatment included addiction education, process groups and information about nutrition and self care. You’d learn healthy coping skills and how to develop a sober support network with the recovery care of your choice. They also taught mindfulness and meditation and provided regular drug testing.
A Unique Approach and Support for Families
One thing that I really liked is that they didn’t believe one strategy applied to everyone, so they didn’t require 12 step meetings, which a lot of programs do.
They also had a free weekly family education group and it was open to anyone in the community. Other family services included family counseling sessions where loved ones could learn more about addiction, recovery and how to be a healthy ally to someone in recovery from addiction.
