About Bay Area First Step Inc
Bay Area First Step Inc is a peer operated substance use treatment provider and offers a full continuum of recovery support since 1995.
The organization combines OHA approved outpatient treatment and DUII services with peer support, harm reduction outreach and NARR accredited recovery housing.
As Oregon's 100% peer operated recovery organization, services are delivered by people with lived experience of recovery.
What kinds of addiction care are offered?
Bay Area First Step provides OHA approved outpatient substance use disorder treatment and DUII services, individual counseling and group therapy.
Additional support includes peer support groups, recovery planning and educational workshops, and both short and long term recovery housing.
Treatment draws on person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and Seeking Safety, contingency management and a trauma informed framework.
Who can get help here?
The organization supports people at every stage of recovery, including those actively using, seeking abstinence, or navigating relapse and housing instability.
Specialized programs include PRIME+ harm reduction peer support, PATHS telemedicine for hepatitis C, HIV and opioid use disorder, and a culturally specific NARR Level III housing option for Native American and Alaska Native individuals.

Bay Area First Step is located at 155 S Empire Blvd in Coos Bay, Oregon.
The organization also runs recovery community activities across Coos and Curry counties, with peer staff who can assist with transportation to meetings, appointments and other essential destinations.
