About Amicus House
The Amicus House in San Jose, California, is a transitional living, sober living, or work release program for incarcerated individuals. Insurance coverage may be possible for services outside of residency. The monthly fee for living at Amicus House will vary depending on whether you’re there for transitional/sober living or as a part of the work release program.
Substance Use Recovery Support
Sober living requires that you are active in your recovery from substance use. You will attend 12 step meetings and have a sponsor.
You are expected to work, attend school or volunteer in the community. Attendance at house Wrap Up meetings is mandatory, and you will have assigned house chores.
Clients will receive substance use counseling that will involve therapeutic methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and trauma related methods. Supportive of your transition back to the community, staff will offer career guidance, life skills training and time management education.
Work Release Program for Offenders
The work release program is structured according to Santa Clara County Judges, Deputy District Attorneys, and Probation Officers. Clients will be allowed to leave 10 hours per day, five days per week to work or attend school. You’ll be closely monitored while at the facility and staff will check your locations while out of the facility.
A Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge stated that he highly recommended the program to any court looking for a treatment program. Clients have noted the effectiveness of the 12 step program, structured living environment and support of the staff.
