About Volunteers of America The Gathering Place
Sheridan, Wyoming is home to a real haven for women working to overcome substance abuse, mental health disorders and other challenges. The Gathering Place is more than just a treatment center, it's a supportive facility where women can really focus on rebuilding their lives and looking ahead.
They have a good mix of structure, genuine care and therapy options that are known to be effective. The facility accepts most private insurance as well as Medicaid and Medicare. They also accept Tricare and VA benefits making it accessible to all individuals.
Recovery at Your Own Pace
The Gathering Place understands that everyone's recovery journey is different. Each woman gets a personalized treatment plan and they spend at least 30 hours a week in treatment.
During group therapy sessions, patients talk about things like addiction and grief as well as being a good parent, having healthy relationships and everyday skills. They also have one on one talks for more personal support. They use therapies like motivational interviewing and Seeking Safety.
The programs focus on what each woman is good at, understand that many have faced hard times, and aim for recovery that sticks. The center itself is set up to feel comfortable and helpful. Women have their own private and safe rooms, get good meals, and can have quiet time if they need it.
Healing with Culture, Spirit and Strength
What makes The Gathering Place special are the extra programs that connect with culture and faith. The Native American Cultural Enhancement Program offers really meaningful sweat lodge experiences and includes traditions taught by certified White Bison people. The Christian Enhancement Program helps women explore their faith as part of getting better, with counseling and support based on what they believe.
These programs are just options for women who want to bring their culture or religion into their healing. At the end of the day, The Gathering Place is about helping women feel safe, seen, and supported as they move forward in their new lives.
