About VOA Recovery Freedom House
VOA Recovery Freedom House is a Volunteers of America Mid-States addiction recovery program in Louisville, Kentucky for pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders.
The program treats substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions using a family-centered, trauma-informed model.
Freedom House is a program built on a simple belief that mothers should not have to choose between recovery and their children.
Addiction Recovery for Mothers
The program's standout feature is allowing mothers to enter treatment with all of their children under 18 removing one of the biggest barriers to care.
Freedom House offers a full continuum including high-intensity residential, low-intensity residential and intensive outpatient with boarding.
Average program completion runs about three to four months based on clinical need.
Care blends medications for opioid use disorder like Suboxone and Vivitrol with individual and group therapy, CBT, motivational interviewing and the Matrix Model.
Sessions also address underlying trauma while building parenting skills, life skills and vocational readiness.
Family Support and Reunification
Beyond clinical treatment Freedom House pairs recovery with CPS-qualified parenting classes, visitation and reunification planning, birth plan guidance and case management.
Graduates and their children can access transitional housing for up to two years if space allows.
