UF Health Psychiatric Hospital

The UF Health Psychiatric Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, is set on 18 acres of private, scenic property. They accept voluntary clients and involuntary clients, in accordance with The Marchman and Baker Act.
The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission. They accept Medicare, Medicaid and many other insurances. Acceptance of insurance may be different based on the physician you are assigned to.
Patient advocates are available to help you be more comfortable with your treatment and ensure you understand treatment with your care team. The hospital offers a child/youth unit, an adult inpatient addiction unit, two adult inpatient psychiatric units and a geriatric psychiatry unit. Your team will determine the treatment you need based on an assessment.

Detoxification for Substance Use Withdrawals

Medically supervised substance use withdrawals services are available if you are in need of withdrawal management. Pharmacological interventions will prevent your symptoms during detox treatment.
The staff specializes in treating dual diagnosis disorders, psychosis, bipolar disorders and other severe mood disorders. Electroconvulsive therapy is used to treat depression and some other mental health issues that may be contributing to your addiction.

Residential Treatment to Achieve Sobriety

Residential treatment involves finding the underlying problem causing the substance use and treating both diagnoses. You will need to undergo detoxification treatment or in less severe cases you may be able to slowly decrease the dose using methadone or a similar drug.
During treatment you will begin to recognize your behaviors that cause relapses. After completion of your treatment, you will be encouraged to attend Narcotics Anonymous, Alateen, Al-Anon or SMART recovery.
