About Teen Challenge Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Adult and Teen Challenge Center in Brooklyn, New York, is accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). They have also been awarded the Silver Transparency award, the Excellence in Workplace Culture award, and the Four-Star Charity Navigator award.
This center is a network of programs that are faith-based and has expanded to 1,400 centers all over the world. Brooklyn has been served by the center for more than 60 years. They treat addiction through the development of a relationship with Jesus Christ to see transformation of lives, restoration of families, and addictions rendered powerless.
Challenge Centers Differ from Treatment Centers
Challenge centers call their methods transformation as opposed to treatment. The program relies on the power of the Holy Spirit instead of traditional clinical methods. Education is Bible-based, and clients are encouraged to allow God to help them overcome addiction.
Challenge centers are long term residential programs lasting an average of 12-18 months. This time frame gives clients an extended period to develop new lifestyles and recover with program support. You’ll be made aware of their destructive choices, how behavior is self-sabotaging and creates unhealthy views.
Free to Clients Because of Donations
Clients are not charged by challenge centers, so they rely on donations. Project 365 is a sponsorship program that allows individuals to sponsor a client in addiction recovery. The sponsorship provides financial support for the client in recovery for items such as housing, food, and counseling.
The center functions as one unit with elements of family, school, and boot camp. The nearest bus stop is a two-minute walk. Eateries nearby include Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Italian, Jamaican, and American cuisine.
The Fort Greene Park includes walking paths, basketball courts, a playground, and tennis courts for clients who wish to have an area of reflection in nature.
