About Teen Challenge Big Island Mens Induction Center
The Christian faith based organization known as Teen Challenge Big Island has a beautiful residential treatment center located in Keaau, Hawaii. Here, they offer various programs to help young adults and men fight mental health and substance abuse disorders.
At the core of their treatment is helping patients build a relationship with God while also going through standard recovery programs. They accept some private insurance plans, Medicaid, self-pay and their “Sponsor a Student” program may be able to cover most of the cost for eligible individuals.
Faith Based Healing in Keaau
The residential program at Teen Challenge Big Island typically lasts 12 to 18 months which allows for a deeper healing and a stronger connection with faith.
Residents here are provided with semi-private rooms, bathrooms and shared spaces like the dining hall and lounges. A normal day in treatment will include communal breakfast with devotionals and some quiet prayers, followed by individual or group therapy sessions and then some free time before dinner and lights out.
The facility's ultimate goal is to help patients find true recovery by using practical biblical scriptures to incorporate what they like to call “The Jesus Factor” which can provide a higher success rate in completing treatment.
Your Safety Net: Aftercare Programs
Patients who have completed treatment can expect plenty of resources and programs to help them stay on track and keep up their momentum. If needed, referrals can be provided for sober living homes to help patients transition into independent living.
The facility holds regular group meetings for alumni and provides possible opportunities to become a spiritual mentor or start a discipleship class. One of the best aftercare programs is the financial literacy and budgeting classes which work in tandem with their job skills training in order to help alumni find secure work opportunities.
