About Blacktail Health Butte Clinic
Butte Clinic is operated by Blacktail Health which was formerly known as Southwest Montana Community Health Center and is an outpatient addiction treatment center and Federally Qualified Health Center in Montana.
The clinic offers medication assisted treatment. This is provided using Suboxone and naltrexone Vivitrol which is integrated with case management and peer support in an integrated primary care setting. They focus on those leaving incarceration.
This is paired with a co-located treatment model that few addiction providers in the region can match.
Treatment for Prerelease and After Release
A defined part of the program is providing MAT for inmates.
Blacktail Health's Butte Clinic works with prerelease clients by continuing MOUD for those already on it and initiating treatment for those with a history of opioid use disorder which targets the period after incarceration when fatal overdose risk is highest.
This is paired with access to free legal services through Montana Legal Services. Clients receive assistance with the legal complications that often accompany reentry.
This is a good program for those in Butte-Silverbow County facing release or a family member planning for it because where most outpatient programs require a patient to walk through the door first their model is built around help for them before that gap opens.
Outreach and Integrated Care On-Site
Addiction treatment at the Butte Clinic is delivered inside a full community health center. Primary medical and dental as well as clinical pharmacy and behavioral health are co-located and MOUD care runs through an integrated team of providers.
They also provide homeless shelter outreach and school based health centers. They accept Medicaid and Medicare in addition to private and military insurance with a sliding fee scale and a commitment that no patient is turned away for inability to pay.
