About Rio Arriba County Substance, Treatment, Outreach and Prevention Program
Rio Arriba County Substance, Treatment, Outreach and Prevention Program, known as RAC STOP, is a county-operated substance use treatment and prevention provider located in Espanola, New Mexico.
The program offers intensive outpatient services, aftercare, SMART Recovery, screening and community monitoring, along with extensive prevention and education programs.
Its mission is to reduce alcohol and drug-related harm through treatment, prevention, education and collaborative community partnerships.
RAC STOP Includes:
- Levels of care: Intensive Outpatient Services, aftercare and SMART Recovery for individuals working toward sustained recovery
- DWI-focused services: Screening, compliance monitoring, alternative sentencing support and referrals from Magistrate, Municipal, District, Family and Tribal Courts
- Youth programs: Juvenile Community Corrections support, school-based prevention, mentorship and life-skills curricula like Botvin and Positive Action
- Gender-specific groups: Boys Council, Girls Circle and gender-specific mental health support
- Therapeutic sessions: Individual and group therapy addressing addiction, anger, grief and DWI awareness
- Countywide reach: RAC STOP in Espanola serves all of Rio Arriba County, including five public school districts, private schools, charter schools and the local college
- Prevention and education: Public information campaigns, educational presentations and annual underage-drinking prevention efforts
- Payment options: Programs are available free of charge, with private insurance and self-pay also accepted
