About Recovery Point Charleston
Recovery Point in Charleston, West Virginia is a long term women’s residential recovery facility. Recovery Point was established in honor of four teenagers who lost their lives on prom night in Huntington. The tragic incident showed the need to provide behavioral health services in the tristate area.
Recovery Point is a charitable organization and provides nonmedical detox and residential substance use treatment at no cost to the clients.
Non Medical Detoxification for Withdrawal
Non medical detox is available to those who need it and lasts three to seven days. Medication is not prescribed by Recovery Point but may be taken if previously prescribed and verified. Severe withdrawals needing a physician’s care will result in the residents being admitted to the local hospital emergency room.
Off the Street (OTS) Residential Phases
After detox a resident begins the Off the Street (OTS) program in Phase I. This phase consists of daily classes and 12 step meetings. An assigned peer will provide encouragement and support. In Phase II the resident begins working in the dining room and attending community meetings.
There are also stages after this program called Recovery Phase I and Recovery Phase II. Recovery Phase I requires completion of the recovery dynamics curriculum consisting of group sessions and written assignments based on the 12 steps. Residents receive peer mentoring and attend community meetings weekly. The residents are required to do chores/jobs assigned to them.
Recovery Phase II, the Silver Chip Program, requires residents to provide peer mentoring and class facilitation for a stipend of $60 to $90 per week, free room, and free meals. The resident does pay $75 per week to stay in the program, maintain employment, follow curfew rules, and attend AA/NA and Silver Chip meetings.
Recovery Meetings for Family and Friends
Family and friends can attend evening meetings, with time before and after to visit with the resident. Residents have access to their cell phones in Phase II, otherwise there are designated times to make phone calls. Tobacco is allowed in designated areas outside the facility.
