About Newness of Life Huntington WV
Newness of Life, located in Huntington, West Virginia, is a faith based sober living residence designed to support adult men and women in recovery from substance use disorders. While they don’t offer formal addiction treatment, they provide a structured environment that complements professional drug and alcohol rehab programs.
This home is certified by the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences, or WVARR. That means it’s safe, drug-free, and has clear rules and peer support.
A Place of Hope and Second Chances
They welcome men and women from all walks of life. If you're on parole or probation or under home confinement with GPS monitoring, there’s a place for you here.
Many residents come here with nothing. One man said he had just finished 23 years in prison and felt like no one else would take a chance on him. He found that chance here.
Whether you’re homeless, employed, or receiving SSI, you’ll find support. They also welcome veterans.
Whatever your situation, this is a place where you can rebuild your future. Several former residents say it helped them become responsible adults and reconnect with life.
How They Help You Stay Sober
Every resident attends 12-step meetings and must have a sponsor. Huntington offers sober-friendly recovery meetings and other local recovery resources to support you.
Because it’s a peer-supported program, you'll have help from people who understand the struggle. One woman shared that she came straight from a three-year prison sentence and was welcomed like family. That sense of community helped her stay committed to sobriety.
You’ll stay for about 10 months and focus on building job skills and managing your finances. Spiritual growth is another part of the work you'll do.
Paying Your Way
Residents are expected to contribute to the cost of their stay. This includes ongoing weekly fees, food and hygiene items. If you’re unable to pay right away, you’ll have the chance to look for work and catch up once you start earning. Staff will help connect you with SNAP or Medicaid if needed.
With access to trained staff and community connections, Newness of Life is an option to consider. It could be your next step to long term sobriety.
