About Humboldt Recovery Center
Humboldt Recovery Center is a nonprofit residential SUD treatment program located in Eureka, California offering care as the oldest and largest residential addiction program on the North Coast.
Using a therapeutic community model grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy, the program serves adult and young adult men and women navigating addiction, co-occurring mental health concerns and trauma.
With more than 50 years of history and over 4,500 alumni, Humboldt Recovery Center pairs structure with a supportive, home like community that helps residents build lasting, drug and alcohol free lives.
Phased Residential Treatment
The program's core is a 90 day residential experience built around a phased model that moves residents from an initial Blackout Phase toward increasing responsibility, work or school access and earned independence.
Counseling anchor each stage, supported by substance use assessment, treatment planning and up to nine months of continuing care.
Sessions draw on evidence based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and motivational interviewing, relapse prevention and 12 step principles.
Peer feedback and accountability help residents address underlying issues while rebuilding practical life skills for long term recovery.
Culturally Grounded Support
Beyond counseling, Humboldt Recovery Center offers employment and education training, nutrition and health education, parenting and perinatal support, transportation and advocacy.
Culturally specific programming includes indigenous elements such as beading classes and Red Road practices, alongside support for individual spiritual paths.

The program accepts private insurance and self pay, and offers nine months of free continuing care to those completing residential treatment.
