About Family and Medical Counseling Services

Family and Medical Counseling Services (FMCS)  in Southeast Washington, DC offers integrated behavioral health and substance use disorder care.

The organization provides outpatient therapy, medication for opioid use disorder, co-occurring disorder treatment and harm reduction services for adults, families and people living with HIV/AIDS.

The center delivers culturally appropriate, community-based care designed to reach individuals who are often overlooked by traditional healthcare systems.

Medication-Assisted Recovery

FMCS provides outpatient substance use disorder care including individual counseling, therapy, comprehensive diagnostic assessments and buprenorphine-based medication for opioid use disorder.

The team also offers substance use testing, recovery support services and a Diversion/Traffic Alcohol Program for individuals navigating DWI or DUI-related requirements.

Treatment is paired with case management and clinical care coordination, helping patients address co-occurring mental health conditions alongside addiction.

Harm Reduction and Community Outreach

FMCS operates a harm reduction program that includes syringe exchange, NARCAN distribution, fentanyl test strips and harm reduction vending machines.

Three full-service mobile units bring HIV testing, Hepatitis C screening and overdose prevention education directly into underserved neighborhoods across the region.

FMCS provides in-person care at its office in Seat Pleasant, Maryland and through community mobile units serving Washington, DC and Prince George's County.
