About Andromeda Transcultural Health

Andromeda Transcultural Health in Washington, D.C. is now permanently closed after providing care to the community for over 50 years. Washington, D.C. was founded in 1790 and is now a 68 square mile federal district located on the Potomac River between Maryland and Virginia. It’s renowned for its iconic monuments and museums, which can help you relax and take your mind off stressors as you recover.

Comprehensive Healthcare Options

Andromeda Transcultural Health once provided a variety of services to the community, including primary care, mental health, a pharmacy, case management, HIV prevention and substance use disorder treatment. They worked with local partners, including the federal government, the Jones Foundation and the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.

The substance use disorder treatment program was a medication assisted program (MAT) that utilized FDA cleared buprenorphine and naloxone, also known as Suboxone. They were one of the first MAT providers in D.C., treating opioid dependent individuals who also had co-occurring mental health conditions.

MAT with Counseling and Psychiatric Evaluation

MAT included a once monthly visit with a psychiatrist, group therapy sessions, urine testing and a 30-day prescription of Suboxone. Case managers helped with housing support, employment and job training opportunities. They also organized HIV medication, nutritional classes, diabetes management and transportation subsidies.

Andromeda Transcultural Health had offered individual and group therapy options as part of the Suboxone treatment program, alongside primary care to address physical needs. They worked with local healthcare providers to reduce your costs.
