About South Bay Pioneers
The Pioneer House of South Bay Pioneers in Chula Vista, California, offers low cost sober living apartments and 12 step meetings. Since they are not funded by the state or government they rely on donations.
In addition to monetary donations, they are receiving donations to help build the Charms House, by buying a brick of the fellowship wall, or by joining Club Happy Destiny. The organizational board members are volunteers and do not receive monetary compensation.
Free From Substance Use Temptations
The house is a place where men who are in recovery can live in a structured sober environment without the temptations of substance use. The home allows recovering men to get back on their feet while still receiving recovery support.
Although you are not expected to be employed to be accepted into the home, you are expected to find employment with a tax paying job. You will be responsible for payments to the home after employment.
While at the home you can expect to be randomly screened for drugs and alcohol. You will be expected to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and follow the house rules. Women are allowed to live in the sober home after substance use treatment with a different organization.
Events and 12 Step Meetings
The house hosts 17 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week and a Saturday night South Bay Speakers Meeting. Frequent events are hosted by the house with Club Happy Destiny members welcome to attend. Past events include a Back to the 80s Dance and a Gala.
If you are in need of intensive residential treatment services, you can be referred to the men’s residential recovery home. After intensive treatment you can be referred back to the Pioneer House.
The facility gets high ratings averaging about 4.5 stars out of five. A reviewer described the staff there as friendly and warm.
