About St John of God Health Care Services – Closed
St John of God Health Care Services in Victorville, California, provided hospitality services to heal clients in the name of Jesus. The campus sought to mend broken clients, families, and communities who were suffering from substance use and/or economic problems. The center has since closed.
Residential Treatment for Addiction
When it was open, the facility offered a residential recovery center for men, women, and parents with children. Clients stayed for a length of 30 to 120 days, offering short term and long term recovery options. The 12 Step methods were taught.
Non-Medical Social Detox
Social detoxification was offered with supervision but no medical assistance or medications were available. Clients were in detox for seven days. Those with severe withdrawal symptoms were sent to the nearest emergency room.
Outpatient substance use treatment was available. This type of treatment allowed clients flexibility in scheduling their appointments. If outpatient treatment wasn’t working for the client, they were referred to residential treatment.
Aftercare Recovery Program
After the client completed treatment, they were referred to the aftercare program. This program involved clients and their families in fun social events in an effort to show them how to enjoy themselves without substances.
Childcare for Clients in Treatment
A licensed day care center provided safe childcare for parents while they attended treatment sessions. Children under the age of six were accepted and community children were eligible as well.
Sober Living during Recovery
Transitional living units were available for men and men/women with children. The client could live in a sober environment while in early stages of recovery. Clients were expected to work or attend school.
The hospitality resource center offered several different services for clients. Clients could attend support groups such as AA, NA, Al-Anon, CODA, and teen meetings. Clients could receive help looking for a job using the computer. The center also offered social events.
