Serving Children and Adults in Need (SCAN) in Pharr, Texas, operates on the motto “creating stronger communities by empowering people.” They offer prevention, intervention, and treatment for substance use disorders.
They accept several insurance providers including Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP. If you are uninsured or underinsured you may be eligible for a sliding scale fee. They are certified by the Texas Health and Human Services as a behavioral health clinic and are accredited by The Joint Commission.
Medication Assistance for Opioid Use
If you have been diagnosed with opioid use disorder you may be eligible for medication assisted treatment (MAT) here. Buprenorphine is prescribed to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. If it is determined you need residential treatment you may be referred to one of their recovery homes.
Outpatient Substance Use Treatment
Outpatient treatment is offered to adults and teenagers who are not in need of intensive treatment. Treatment is available in English and Spanish.
The center offers several different treatment groups. Youth outpatient services treat substance use disorder for ages 13 to 17. Familias Unidas Outpatient treats youth, young adults, their families, and their primary caregivers.
Adult outpatient services are coed and treat adults 18 or older. Specialized female outpatient treatment offers trauma informed gender specific services for mothers and/or pregnant adult women. The DWI program is certified to provide programs for those who have been charged with driving while under the influence of a substance.
Their co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders (COPSD) program provides integrated treatment for adults. Case managers assist with transportation to appointments at the center, employment, health care, social services, and other needs.
Stabilization for Crisis Scenarios
Our loved ones who have a substance use disorder may find themselves in a crisis scenario. The center provides 24 hour mobile crisis teams, intervention, and stabilization.
