About Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center
If you’re a veteran seeking addiction and/or mental health care in Aurora, Colorado, the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center is one option by Toll Gate Creek and not too far from the suburbs. The center is part of the wider Veterans Affairs healthcare system and offers 24/7 services. They even have free onsite parking, but referrals are required.
You can use your VA medical benefits, such as TRICARE. The VA also accepts most private insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare. Behavioral healthcare services are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but if you have a substance related or mental health crisis, you can be admitted through the emergency room 24 hours per day.
Minority Veteran Care
I noticed they have a minority veteran program, where the staff strives to meet and address your unique needs. No matter your minority status, clients can get connected to whatever care you need. This includes meeting your needs within the local community.
All veterans and their families can drop by the retail store or onsite canteen for shopping and entertainment or a quick snack. An onsite chaplain is also available for those needing spiritual reassurance. For those staying overnight, you can find easy accommodations offsite or at the Fisher House.
Pain Management
In addition to addiction recovery and mental health care, I think many clients will appreciate that the center provides pain management. Pain is often a contributing factor in substance use. Clinicians will help you learn how to manage your pain effectively without turning to dangerous or illegal substances.
