A great thing I noticed about them is that they provide all education and prevention services at no cost. This is possible thanks to funding through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
Supporting Underserved Communities Since 1995
I also like that they prioritize at risk youth. For over 30 years, they’ve been dedicated to helping prevent lifelong addictions. In the past, they’ve offered outpatient and residential treatment to adolescents struggling with substance abuse, but these services were discontinued in September of 2023.
Now, they focus on addiction prevention and mental health educational efforts. They bring community based services to school aged youth in grades pre-K through 12 who need it most. Your child can learn and practice healthy skills to avoid substance use and improve overall wellness.
Effective Addiction Prevention Education For Houston’s Youth
One of the most impressive things I noticed about them is their proclaimed success rate. According to their website, 94% of participants who start their educational prevention journey complete the course successfully.
While that may not mean every child who finishes the program will abstain from substances, it does reaffirm their goal of helping adolescents understand the truth about drugs, alcohol and addiction. Since inception, they’ve helped over 235,000 young Texans get informed. They serve about 26,000 clients on average each year.
