About New Wine Counseling, LLC
New Wine Counseling, in Pharr, Texas, is owned and operated by Nicolas Torrez. As a person who has been in recovery since 2006, Torrez brings life experiences along with a degree in addiction studies. He treats substance use disorder, criminal behavior associated with substance use disorder, and codependency.
Substance Use Counseling and Therapies
Through a screening Nicolas will assess and diagnose your specific disorder(s). You will be scheduled for individual and group counseling. Group topics include chemical dependency, codependency, and drug and alcohol education.
During group sessions you will enjoy drug abuse presentations. Therapies used include cognitive behavioral, motivational enhancement, and motivational interviewing.
We do all that we can to help our loved ones excel and be successful in life. For many families this becomes behavior that is enabling the loved one to continue with substance use. Torrez counsels families for enabling behavior as well.
Out and About in Pharr
If you’re hungry after a session, there is a Chick-fil-a and a Red Robin about two miles from the clinic. A seafood eatery, Muelle 37, is just beside the clinic and offers meals for $10 to $20.
There are a number of nature spots available two to three miles from the clinic. These offer an area of reflection and peace for a client coming from therapy. La Vista Park offers jogging/walking paths and picnic areas for rest and relaxation.
If you prefer a more cultured experience the Gelman Stained Glass Museum is where historic and antique masterpieces are displayed. The International Museum of Art and Science showcases artwork from all over the world, science exhibits, and educational programs.
