About Magnolia Womens Recovery
If you’re a pregnant or postpartum woman seeking mental health or addiction care in Oakland, California, Magnolia Women’s Recovery may be a good option for you. The center offers residential programs for women who are pregnant or postpartum and women who have children under age seven. The environment is smoke and vape free.
I noticed that this is a nonprofit, gender specific program that serves women with histories of violence, trauma, and co-occurring mental health issues. They’re in-network with a local mobile health lab, but please note that they’re not a medical clinic nor do they offer detox.
The program accepts private insurance and, in some cases, Medicaid. The treatment center is situated near Lake Merritt, where individuals can take some time for quiet reflection, walks, and group outings.
Helping Women & Children
For many women, seeking inpatient addiction or mental health treatment is next to impossible when they have small children. I like that the program addresses this issue by allowing women with young children to bring their kids with them. Clients are in private or shared rooms and contribute to cooking meals, fostering responsibility and maintaining their living space.
Holistic Wellness
The staff utilizes a holistic and trauma informed treatment approach. They emphasize healing the underlying traumas and toxic stress that contribute to substance use and mental health issues. They offer domestic violence education, parenting classes, and life skills education.
