Alcohol and Drug Use Statistics in Livermore, CA
Health officials have reported the following substance use statistics for Alameda County in 2021:1
- There were 191 opioid overdose deaths.
- 477 opioid-related emergency department visits occurred.
- There were 137 hospitalizations related to opioid overdose.
- 513,263 opioid prescriptions were written.
- The opioid prescribing rate decreased by 17% from 2019 to 2021.
- The 55 to 59-year-old age bracket saw the highest rate of opioid-related overdose deaths.
- The opioid-related overdose rate was twice as high for Black/African Americans than for Whites or Hispanic/Latinos.
- The prescribing rate for buprenorphine (medication assisted substance use disorder treatment) was 13.94 per 1,000 residents – an 8% increase from 2019.
