About The Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center
The Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center in Tamarac, Florida treats mental health issues and substance use disorders. They provide partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and general outpatient services.
They are accredited by The Joint Commission, FARR, the state of Florida’s Agency for Healthcare Administration, and the Florida Department of Children and Families. They accept Medicaid, CHIP, and other health insurances.
Your treatment will involve a clinical team, a psychiatric team, a medical team, and spiritual ambassadors. The clinical team will create your personalized treatment plan and track your progress. The medical team will manage any medications you are prescribed and can make referrals for you to specialists.
Substance Use Archway Program
If you are diagnosed with a substance use disorder, you will participate in the Archway Program in addition to the mental health program. The archway includes 12 step immersion, lectures on spirituality and recovery, group sessions and meditation, and community support meetings.
Holistic Therapies
Art therapists assist clients in processing emotions and relieving stress through drawing, painting, sculpting, or mandala creation. Canine assisted intervention utilizes a psychiatric service dog who is trained to support clients with disorders such as anxiety, mood disorders, and PTSD.
The center’s music therapy sessions include creating music, singing, listening to music, discussing lyrics, and/or playing instruments.
Other therapies include acupuncture, massage, exercise, meditation, and yoga. Holistic healing occurs through lifestyle changes, stress reduction techniques, and self care practices.
