About Promesa Behavioral Health
Near Lake Van Ness in the northernmost neighborhoods of Fresno, California, Promesa Behavioral Health offers a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for addiction recovery. Here you’ll find both a limited set of social services and residential support as well as outpatient services for identifying and treating substance use disorders (SUDs).
A unique aspect of the care here is that their practices are guided by a desire to be compassionate and supportive to individuals who have suffered mistreatment. This includes trauma informed approaches and the provision of key social services and specialized programs to youths aged 12 to 19. As a part of this mission, they accept patients funded by Medicare, State welfare and education funds, and county or local government grants.
An Inclusive and Accessible Outpatient SUD Program
I like that Promesa can provide age appropriate outpatient care to anyone aged 12 and over struggling with an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Their two main goals throughout the program are to help you build the strength to achieve and maintain abstinence as well as to grow into the strongest possible version of yourself.
On this journey, they may use cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation to help you learn more about yourself, addiction, and the ways in which you can overcome addiction. They will then walk with you to help you achieve the specific outcomes relevant to your specific circumstances. Each person gets an individualized care plan and attention. If needed, they may even adjust their approach to accommodate alternative linguistic needs.
Critical Help for Vulnerable Teens
I found that an invaluable part of their services is their short term residential therapeutic program (STRTP) for at risk teens (aged 12 to 19). This program provides shelter, mental healthcare services, and key educational materials to help teens who don’t have anywhere else to turn.
One example of the specialty programs offered under this banner is their Pregnant and Parenting Teen Program which gives shelter, care, and training to these young mothers.
