About Memorial Hermann – Mental Health Crisis Clinic in Spring Branch
The Mental Health Crisis Clinic in Spring Branch is a location of Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas. The clinic serves as an emergency room for those experiencing a crisis due to mental health issues.
Their doors are open on weekdays from noon to 8:00 pm. They're also open two varying Saturdays per month from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you’re experiencing a crisis you can come to the clinic without an appointment. The clinic suggests you call before arriving if possible.
This location does not provide continuous care for clients but rather treat crisis situations for those who can’t go to their provider immediately and for those who don’t have providers. These folks are referred to local facilities for continuous care.
Medication and Treatment
Staff consists of psychiatrists, mental health nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, and medical assistants. Just as we would expect at an emergency room, the clinic will provide emergency medication and a short term prescription for the days before you are able to see your provider.
A psychosocial assessment will allow the psychiatrist to determine what medications you need. Narcotics, stimulants, and benzodiazepines are not prescribed by the clinic. You will receive crisis counseling and solution focused intervention.
Safety planning is an important part of your treatment to ensure you are safe when you return home. If you’re in need of housing, food, or other resources, the clinic can refer you.
Referral for Addiction Treatment
Though the clinic does not treat clients for substance use crises, they can refer us to a local facility. If you are experiencing severe withdrawals, you will likely be referred to the local hospital.
