About KidsPeace Community Programs Allentown
The KidsPeace Green Street program of Orchard Behavioral Health in Allentown, Pennsylvania, offers outpatient mental health treatment. Though their focus is on children and adolescents, treatment for parents and caregivers allows the program to treat ages 3-65. It’s close to Andre Reed Park.
Immediate Crisis Stabilization
The clinic serves as an urgent care location for those experiencing a mental crisis. Instead of going to the local emergency room, clients can come to the clinic. Walk-in hours are weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
You can bring your child for an assessment during walk-in hours. A physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant will initiate discussions with your child in the form of an assessment. The goal is to understand your child’s symptoms, thoughts, feelings, and past medical history to provide a mental health diagnosis and create a treatment plan for your kids.
Medication Assisted Treatment
If your child is prescribed medications, appointments for medication monitoring will be scheduled. These monitoring appointments allow the physician to determine if this is the medication needed based on side effects and effectiveness. The physician can also determine if the dosage amount is appropriate.
Sometimes we don’t know how to effectively communicate with our family members. Family therapy works with the family to improve communication, work out conflicts, and look at family dynamics. Any events or stressors that have led to the conflict are discussed and resolved as part of therapy.
All counseling services, with the exception of group therapy, can be attended virtually over Zoom.
Substance Use Disorder Treatment
Although this Orchard Behavioral Health center doesn’t specifically treat substance use disorder, they can accept a client who is in crisis and stabilize them. They’re able to treat mild substance use issues and can refer clients to local facilities for more intensive care if needed.
