About Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coastal Bend
The Council on Alcohol + Drug Abuse (COADA) in Corpus Christi, Texas, serves the Coastal Bend Community. The center assists residents living in 12 surrounding counties. It’s by the Art Museum of South Texas and Cole Park.
COADA is a private nonprofit agency that provides a continuum of care including youth and adult treatment, recovery support, parenting support, and prevention. They are funded through donations, grants and contracts.
The center is open for a range of hours that are convenient for client’s different schedules. For those who work eight to five, it’s difficult for us to schedule appointments or do some errands. They’re open Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm and to 5:00 pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
Adult and Youth Intensive Outpatient
Separate intensive outpatient programs are offered for adults and youth. These programs can assist with resources outside of substance use treatment such as housing and employment.
Youth treatment involves the youth’s school, family, and courts if youths have legal issues. Adults or youth who need more intensive inpatient treatment are referred to a local treatment facility.
Adult and Youth Recovery Support
Recovery support services for adults will help you stay on your road to recovery. We can receive support and encouragement in achieving our goals we have set through recovery coaches that are available to us after completion of treatment.
Youth recovery support services provide social activities with recovery coaches to provide a fun and safe place to continue recovery. Different enjoyable sober events the center offers include activities such as Bowl for Recovery, the Safe + Sober Holiday Kickoff, and a night with the Corpus Christi IceRays.
Prenatal and Postpartum Addiction Treatment
Project Link Intervention services is available to prenatal women, postpartum women and teens with past or present histories of substance use, mental health problems, live with someone who uses substances, involvement with CPS, are in financial distress and have no or little prenatal care. Substances include alcohol, drugs and tobacco.
Special services are also available to clients who have experienced sexual, emotional or physical abuse. Free and confidential services include support services, pregnancy and infant classes, child safety classes, case management, referrals and emergency economic relief.
