About Black Family Development
Black Family Development operates the HOPE program, a CARF-accredited outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment service based in Detroit, Michigan. HOPE offers individual, group and family counseling for adults and adolescents. They offer clinic-based and home-based options designed to meet clients with a person-centered, community-rooted approach with wraparound supports including case management, crisis intervention and practical advocacy services.
Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Substance Use Treatment
HOPE provides flexible outpatient and intensive outpatient programming for Wayne County residents managing substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns. Treatment includes evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention and trauma-informed counseling, delivered through individual sessions, group work and family counseling.
Sessions focus on building coping skills, addressing underlying triggers, and creating sustainable recovery plans tailored to each client's life circumstances. The home-based model brings care directly into the community, reducing barriers to access and helping clients apply skills in real-world settings between appointments.
Women-Focused Relapse Prevention with Trauma-Informed Care
HOPE's Women's Relapse Prevention program offers a 10-week mindfulness based relapse prevention track designed specifically for women, including those referred through drug court or mental health court. The program integrates trauma informed tools and provides practical supports such as childcare and transportation assistance to help participants attend consistently and engage fully in their recovery.
