About Antelope Valley Hospital Mental Health Services
Antelope Valley Hospital is the only full service acute care hospital in the area that's been delivering care to the local community since 1955. The hospital is located in the Antelope Valley of the Mojave Desert, approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles in Lancaster, California. The thriving city is a hub for aerospace and renewable energy, offering affordable housing and a walkable downtown area.
Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
Each year, the medical center treats more than 220,000 people with over 130,000 ER visits. The full service emergency room offers stabilization services for mental health and substance use disorder crises. This provides initial care before receiving customized treatment in their Behavioral Health unit.
The Behavioral Health Unit has offered comprehensive inpatient treatment since 1971, helping residents to successfully transition to community programs after completing inpatient care. The primary treatment is for mental health conditions, which may be associated with substance use disorders.
While they don’t provide a structured substance use disorder program, Antelope Valley Hospital can help support your ongoing recovery by addressing mental health conditions that affect your sobriety.
Addressing Biological, Life, and Family Factors
The program addresses biological factors, life experiences and/or family history of mental health problems to ensure they are appropriately addressed. This unit has a multidisciplinary team of therapists, psychiatrists, mental health technicians and licensed clinical social workers. Clients receive close medical supervision while admitted to the program, which includes medication management.
Discharge planning begins after admission to ensure that you're connected with the right community services that can continue to support your mental health and substance use disorder recovery.
