About American Indian Health and Services
Known for its beautiful beaches and Spanish Colonial architecture, Santa Barbara, California is home to American Indian Health and Services. Since 1994, this community clinic has provided medical and behavioral health services for all Santa Barbara community members. You can access specialized care including substance abuse and mental health treatment.
They welcome non Native individuals though they offer culturally competent care for members of the Native American community. Native American community members may qualify for many programs supported by the Indian Health Service.
Culturally Competent Care
Their dedication to the Native American Community really stood out to me. You can access treatment and support rooted in Native American culture and traditions from professionals with similar backgrounds. They provide traditional healing approaches, wellbriety, talking circles and more. You’ll benefit from targeted care that honors your identity and builds on cultural strengths.
Holistic Approach
Another feature that caught my eye was their holistic approach. Their programs reflect the “Circle of Well being” which prioritizes healing the mind, body, and spirit. You can access a whole person approach to recovery that focuses on restoring balance and addressing the root causes of addiction. This might include mindfulness practices, physical fitness, and nutritional counseling along with counseling and peer support.
Grief Recovery
I also think it's great that they provide grief recovery. They understand that grief can impact substance abuse. You can receive ongoing support to work through difficult emotions and gain the tools to advance in your journey.
Integrated Care
Their integrated care approach also stood out to me. In addition to addiction treatment they also offer medical, dental, pediatric and behavioral health services. They even offer a clinic on wheels. This fully licensed mobile clinic provides primary care services including checkups and immunizations.
