About LA Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse — Community Prison Mother Program
The Community Prisoner Mother Program (CPMP) of L.A. Cada in Santa Fe Springs, California, is funded by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Pregnant women and mothers are permitted to live in an unconventional prison facility with their children under strict supervision.
Eligibility for Treatment through CPMP
Mothers are only accepted through CDCR referrals. You can contact the Institutional Community Beds Coordinator to determine if you are eligible for the CPMP program. Only children under six years of age are allowed to live with their mother.
This program reduces the effects of a mother’s incarceration on her children and reduces the likelihood of the mother reoffending. Your children will be provided with healthcare, development programs, and education.
Reentry services support incarcerated mothers who are transitioning back into the community while strengthening the bond with their children. Many incarcerated mothers have mental health problems and substance use disorders. The program provides treatment for these diagnoses.
Addiction and Mental Health Treatment
You will receive treatment through counseling and mental health therapies. Treatment consists of trauma informed therapy customized for incarcerated mothers. Treatment will be provided for substance use disorders and any mental health issues and behaviors that accompany your addiction.
Workshops will teach you new life skills. Job training will prepare you to be self sufficient and financially independent. While in the program you will address your emotions, learn new parenting techniques, and work on vocational development. The program will prepare you for a sober and fulfilling life after your release.
