Fish is a great food to consume because it is full of Omega-3 fatty acids that help manage stress hormones and fight off mood disorders such as depression.
When a person is looking for a pick me up while recovering from an addiction, they should typically stay clear of high sugar and caffeinated drinks. The best refreshment for them to consume is water. Water will help their body stay hydrated and fight off bacteria and viruses. Another great drink to consume is black tea. Black tea helps reduce stress due to the herbs that it contains. People who drink black tea typically feel calmer and deal with stressful situations better.
During recovery, it is important for the person to be a part of some type of exercise program. Most recovery programs have a exercise program and other active resources. Exercise is another great option for stress relief techniques because it keeps the body active. When the body stays active, feel good endorphins are released and helps distract the person from stressful situations and thoughts. Some great ways to get in exercise are running, weight lifting, yoga and swimming. Swimming is one of the best because it works out the whole body and is type of therapy to help keep the person calm.
5. Keep Positive Company
One of the ultimate stress relief techniques is keeping positive company. When the persons environment and people around them are positive, their chances of experiencing high amounts of stress are less likely. This is where support groups and other types of therapies can help the person through the recovery process. Support groups are typically a great way to get encouragement and help the person feel better about their situation.
