About Womens Recovery Association Laurel House
Women’s Recovery Association Laurel House in San Mateo, California, is a residential treatment center that feels more like a supportive home than a facility. Located just a few blocks from San Mateo’s downtown, this 12-bed house provides women a space to recover in peace. The program is open to adult women of all ages, including pregnant women and young adults. Some stay for a short time, and others stay for as long as they need.
The team here offers help 24 hours a day and builds each plan around the person and not just their addiction. They take Medi-Cal Medicare and private insurance and offer sliding scale fees too.
Safe and Supportive Care
Treatment covers a lot of ground. You’ll have individual sessions, group therapy and education about addiction and mental health. The team uses well-known methods like cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy along with support for trauma and relapse prevention. If you’re also dealing with anxiety or depression, they have treatment support to help with that too. You’re also close to Central Park and the library, which are two peaceful spots if you want to take a walk or relax in quiet surroundings after a therapy session.
A Focus on Women and Mothers
There's one thing about Laurel Hill that really makes them stand out from every other facility in the area. It’s how deeply they understand women’s experiences. Many clients here are also working through trauma or trying to break the cycle of addiction for their kids. There’s parenting help and aftercare planning so you don’t feel lost when you leave.
The house itself feels warm and lived in. Rooms are shared, and the kitchen has been recently updated. You’ll have a place to rest and take part in all of the therapies they have on site.
