About VA North Texas Health Care System Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center
The Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center (SRMVC) is a medical treatment facility that offers numerous primary and specialty healthcare services to veterans, certain active duty personnel and families as a part of the North Texas VA system. Located on the eastern flank of Bonham, Texas, this VA medical center provides a comprehensive array of mental and behavioral health services, including inpatient and outpatient treatments for substance use disorder (SUD) and alcohol addiction.
Addiction Treatments Designed For Veterans
At the SRMVC, they offer several therapeutic and medical treatments that can help you overcome an addiction. These include therapy modalities that can help you identify and redirect harmful behavioral patterns or leverage your natural strengths in order to build towards sobriety. They also offer medication assisted treatments to help treat serious opioid, alcohol or tobacco dependencies.
As a VA center, their treatment approaches are at all times sensitive to the specific needs and triggers that commonly present themselves in the lives of veterans. They offer counseling and support for struggles like anger, anxiety, depression and grief.
They also have specialized services that can support veterans with a second mental health diagnosis, such as PTSD, clinical depression, OCD, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. One of the most amazing parts of their services is that they place a heavy emphasis on helping veterans integrate more comfortably into civilian life.
Finding Support and Relief In And Around The Center
The SRMVC and surrounding locations also offer other services and opportunities for personal development and enrichment. The center itself has resources to help connect you with transitional or supportive housing, dedicated counseling for individuals who’ve suffered military sexual trauma and social workers who help veterans with everything from home health and legal services.
Some local recreational spots include several restaurants on East Sam Rayburn Drive, the Fannin County Museum of History and the Powder Pavilion. The center is also around three miles away from Bonham State Park, which is a great local spot for fishing, hiking and camping.
