About Turning Point of Central California — Kennemer Center
The Ken Kennemer Center (KC) is a facility located in Bakersfield, California, that contracts with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to provide an innovative reentry program for men. This reentry program allows qualifying inmates to serve out the end of their sentences in a community oriented towards rehabilitation rather than in a correctional facility.
From this setting, residents are provided with assistance in accessing rehabilitation services, mental health services and career development opportunities. What’s most unique, however, is that they also allow private, paying residents to live in the facility as well.
Well Rounded Residential Rehabilitation Services
The center provides all residents with both the services needed to help break free from addictions as well as classes and opportunities aimed at job development and building life skills. Their staff facilitates many group activities, including psychoeducational classes on how best to deal with addictive substances and temptations in society, group therapy sessions and community service activities. They also provide residents with individualized substance and mental health counseling.
Apart from the amenities needed for counseling and learning, the facility offers spaces for exercise and recreational activities. If you’re looking to strengthen or rebuild relationships with your family, their program can facilitate meetings for that as well.
Effective Solutions for Reentering Society
The approach taken at this facility is designed to give each resident the tools and connections they need to attain and maintain long term success and sobriety. Part of this focus includes helping each resident connect with the social services they’d need to continue with this journey, whether that means help with finding counseling services or navigating housing assistance programs. To that end, the facility is just south of two Kern County Human Services offices, both of which can help you with further access to social assistance.
