About The Refuge A Healing Place
Located in Ocklawaha, Florida, The Refuge provides residential substance use and mental health treatment. Guests have over ninety acres of forest scenery in a tranquil setting to focus on recovery. They accept private health insurance, military insurance and cash. The center does not work with Medicare or Medicaid.
Comprehensive Detox Program
The Refuge offers comprehensive detox services that include medications such as buprenorphine and naltrexone to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms from opioid addiction. Disulfiram and topiramate are used to assist with withdrawal from alcohol, and they also provide chantix and nicotine replacement therapy for tobacco addiction.
Relaxing Amenities Included
The Refuge emphasizes being a healing place. The amenities are plentiful, with a swimming pool, volleyball and basketball courts, hiking and meditation trails, and a fishing dock. Guests share bedrooms to create a community feel and reduce feelings of isolation, which frequently accompany addiction.
One of the treatment methods included is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), to help resolve past events that may have contributed to substance use. They offer experiential therapy to balance traditional sessions with a more alternative approach that includes options like art and music therapy, equine therapy and yoga.
One of the unique treatments available is transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for clients struggling with depression who have been resistant to other treatments. The center is in the Ocala National Forest, so guests have access to spaces that promote recovery and relaxation. Lake Weir is another nearby location where clients can enjoy nature and recreational exercise.
