Northwell Staten Island University Hospital North in New York is situated on 17 acres with one of the island’s most modern emergency departments, education centers, and a medical arts pavilion. It’s a short drive over from Dongan’s Playground in Staten Island.

The chemical dependency department staffs credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselors and credentialed substance abuse nurses. Walk-in hours are weekdays from opening to 3pm.
Outpatient Substance Use Treatment
The hospital offers outpatient counseling and therapy. Onsite educational, vocational, and referral services are available to assist you with education plans, job training and placement, and community services opportunities.
Your family members and loved ones are welcome to attend your outpatient counseling sessions. A methadone maintenance treatment program allows clients with opioid use disorder to complete detoxification without dangerous withdrawals and cravings.

We can find ourselves in a crisis situation when we overuse substances or are in severe withdrawals from not using. Emergency care is 24/7 for anyone with a crisis. Inpatient treatment offers medication management, individual and group therapy, psychoeducation, and activity therapy.

The hospital offers a geriatric psychiatry program. Geriatric care treats medical and social issues common among elderly clients. Staff include psychiatrists, internists, medical and surgical subspecialists, geriatric nurses, social workers, and activity therapists.
The department of psychiatry is staffed by psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and activity therapists. This department works with primary care physicians and allied health professionals to ensure you have a full continuum of care. Psychiatric appointments can be attended in person or virtually by telepsychiatry.
