Psychiatric and Medication Services
General outpatient services begin with a diagnosis and treatment plan that will be made during your session with the psychiatrist/psychologist. The psychiatrist may determine that you need medications for your diagnosis.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Their Adult Outpatient Center for Behavioral Medicine treats clients who have substance use disorders that are secondary to HIV/AIDS, cancer, traumatic injury, diabetes and other chronic illnesses. Those of us who have been diagnosed with a chronic condition are prone to behaviors that cause further harm to our bodies.
Youth and Child Addiction Treatment
Their outpatient child and adolescent center accepts ages four to 21 and can treat your child for substance use disorders. Medication can be prescribed if needed. Parents are in collaboration with the center to determine treatment of their child.
Dialectical behavior therapy is used to treat youth ages 12 to 18 for substance use, self harm, eating disorders and anger management. The center uses five modules to deliver treatment using individual sessions, family sessions, parenting education and group therapies. The program lasts for one year.
Inpatient Substance Use Treatment
The Emergency, Intake, and Referral Center evaluates adults and children to determine the treatment center they should be transferred to. The Health and Recovery Center provides inpatient services for clients who are detoxing and/or have co-occurring disorders.
Other inpatient centers include a Gerimed Unit for older adults, Miami Dade Forensic Alternative Center for those found incompetent to proceed to trial, and four units dedicated to those with acute behavioral health conditions.
