About Dynamite Youth Center
Dynamite Youth Center has provided substance abuse treatment to teens, adolescents, and young adults. One of their facilities is located in Brooklyn, New York, offering outpatient and limited residential care. They specialized in incorporating the needs and challenges of young people into their comprehensive treatment programs.
Parents and other family members can participate in their own programs here, too. Weekly support meetings give them a platform to get help and insight from staff and others with loved ones in treatment.
Keeping Pace In Recovery
Substance use disorder recovery is a big undertaking that can feel overwhelming at times, especially for younger clients. But the time spent in treatment doesn’t mean your loved one has to fall behind in other areas of their life. Clients without a high school diploma or GED can participate in classes as part of treatment so they can stay on track with their education needs.
Vocational support is available, too, including interview prep and employment counseling. What I especially like is that clients can be assigned tasks around the center while in treatment as a form of job prep, teaching them accountability and personal responsibility while developing valuable work skills.
Become Part of a Community
The DYC alumni group has several ways for past clients to stay in touch with one another, including weekly meetings and special social events. It’s not just about keeping your friends close, though; it’s a built in recovery community you can rely on whenever you or your loved one needs a helping hand during sobriety. These groups are useful relapse prevention tools and a connection to other recovery resources.
A Therapeutic Location
The Brooklyn facility is only a short distance from some of the city’s most relaxing outdoor spots, such as Coney Island Beach and Marine Park. Time spent in locations like these can boost your mood and help you destress after a day in treatment, so consider making them part of your recovery plan.
