About Douglas Gardens Community Mental Health North Miami Center
Douglas Gardens Community Mental Health, North Miami Center in North Miami, Florida, offers outpatient services for substance use, mental health and co-occurring disorders. The center provides general outpatient treatment, community services and referrals that clients need.
The center is CARF accredited and is recognized by the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs and Miami-Dade County. They accept Medicare, Medicaid and other private insurances. A sliding fee scale is available for those who qualify.
Counseling for Substance Use Disorders
Substance use services include case management and outpatient counseling based on 12 Step methods. If you need detoxification, residential treatment or intensive outpatient treatment, your counselor will refer you to one of their other facilities that offer that service.
Medication Assisted Treatment and Onsite Pharmacy
Psychiatrists are able to diagnose co-occurring disorders. You may be prescribed medication by a psychiatrist for your disorder. An onsite pharmacy may offer the convenience of filling your prescription.
Crisis Intervention and Referrals
You may find yourself needing crisis services due to withdrawals or the overuse of substances. Crisis intervention screening evaluations and referral to a hospital can be done from the clinic.
You can walk in without an appointment for services Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Alternate community services are available outside of these hours.
Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program
The psychosocial rehabilitation 12 week program teaches those with chronic mental illness how to function in society. In order to maintain a life of sobriety, we have to change some of our friend groups and activities that were our norm.
You will learn how to prevent relapses and develop strategies for coping. They offer services in Creole, English and Spanish.
Practical Support Services
Clients are able to drop in for social and recreational activities, snacks and a meal five days per week for four hours per day. For clients needing employment, the center offers job placement, on the job training, and support.
