About Borinquen Medical Centers Behavioral Health Resource Center
The Borinquen Behavioral Health Resource Center located in the Miami Design District in Florida has been treating Miami residents for more than 50 years. Their primary focus is to provide integrated care in one location for clients. This includes primary care, dental, OB/GYN, pediatrics, imaging, behavioral health, substance abuse, and podiatry.
Borinquen is accredited by CARF and AAAHC and is recognized by PCMH and HRSA. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, Healthy Kids, commercial insurance, and private insurance. If you are uninsured or underinsured, you may qualify for a sliding scale fee. The center will not turn anyone away due to their inability to pay.
STOPP Substance Use Treatment Program
The center offers general outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment for substance abuse disorders. The STOPP program offers substance abuse counseling individually and in groups. Group sessions cover recovery skills and relapse prevention.
All clients are tested for HIV and Hepatitis. If you need more intensive care, the center can refer you for residential treatment, psychiatric services, and/or medical services.
Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program
We know that substance users are at risk of contracting diseases. While intravenous drug users are well known to us for being at risk, anyone who is under the influence of a substance may engage in risky behaviors.
The Health Resources and Services Administration’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS program provides funding for the center to offer services for clients diagnosed with HIV. The grant covers clients with low incomes to receive primary medical care, medications, and support services. In conjunction with the CDC’s initiatives, HIV testing is available and encouraged for populations that have a higher risk of HIV transmission.
B-Care Integrated Care Program
The B-Care program integrates services offered to clients with behavioral health and primary care services at the same location. This is available to any adult who has a serious mental illness diagnosis. Client treatment includes psychiatric services, counseling, medication and case management, and educational wellness groups.
