About Baden Street Settlement
If you live in Rochester, New York, you’ve probably heard of Baden Street Settlement. It’s right by Baden Park. They’ve been serving the community’s medical and behavioral health needs for over a century, and the heart of their mission hasn’t changed.
Addiction and Counseling Support
Baden Street Settlement runs a Counseling and Support Center on Joseph Avenue that focuses on helping adults ages 18 and over to overcome substance use. Their approach is pretty personal because they look at the bigger picture of someone’s life and not just the substance abuse they’re battling. They offer both individual and group counseling, plus case management too. And they’re even launching an integrated mental health outpatient clinic in conjunction with the state.
The staff really believes that addiction is influenced by both biology and environment. So healing has to look at the whole person to help support them with services that help build stability in real life.
More Than Just Treatment
What makes Baden different is that their work stretches way beyond addiction services. They’ve got programs for kids, teens, adults and seniors. Baden really has a little bit of everything, from child development programs, to you programs and mental health counseling, to family assistance and even a digital arts center.
They also run Health Home Care Management where a care manager helps people in need to coordinate housing, transportation, medical care and other community resources.
The staff leading these programs bring serious heart and experience to the table, too. At the time of writing, Hector Diaz has been working in substance use treatment for over 30 years and also happens to be a professional musician with the Mambo Kings. Noraly Leisten brings passion for supporting Spanish speaking communities into her counseling work. These are real people, with real cultural awareness who are ready to help those in need.
