About 180 House
The 180 House in Abilene, Texas, offers more than just a roof over your head. It's a structured sober living environment built around accountability, community and the principles of recovery. Their goal here is simple. They want to provide a safe, clean and supportive place for individuals committed to staying sober and rebuilding their lives.
Clear Expectations for a Fresh Start
Life at the 180 House comes with straightforward rules designed to keep everyone focused on recovery. Residents must remain 100% drug and alcohol free and they’re very careful to manage prescription medications too for accountability purposes.
Curfews are in place from 12:30 AM Monday through Thursday and 1:00 AM Friday through Sunday. These curfews are in place to encourage structure and stability.
Rent is expected weekly, but the house makes it clear that they’re not going to chase down payments but instead just encourage personal responsibility. They charge $125 for a single room, $100 for a double room and $40 for a deposit fee.
To stay at the house, residents are expected to stay connected to their recovery goals by attending meetings. During the first 60 days, participating in outpatient classes at Serenity House or other treatment programs is required. But they do this to build a foundation of daily accountability, which is pretty neat.
Community Responsibility
One really neat thing about living at 180 House is the emphasis on helping others. Any resident working fewer than 20 hours a week contributes to 10 hours of in-house community service. That basically means that they can help clean common spaces, organize food deliveries or even spend time helping at the local food bank.
