About YES Community Counseling Center Massapequa
On Grand Avenue, just west of the Massapequa Preserve in Massapequa, New York, you’ll find the YES Community Counseling Center (YCCC). This is a nonprofit community focused organization dedicated to raising awareness and support for pressing issues faced by communities across Long Island. They have programs that respond directly to the needs that arise in these communities, including substance use prevention education and addiction treatment services.
As a nonprofit, they’re funded by grants and donations, allowing them to provide their services at as low a cost as possible. Their location is also close to the Massapequa train station, making their services easy to access via public transport.
Supporting Adolescents and Their Families
YCCC has several separate services that address patterns of substance use that occur in distinct population groups. One of these is a service that helps teens engaged in substance use while also providing support for their families. This service offers a combination of individual, group and family therapy sessions in which counselors help their clients address and overcome not only the substance use, but also work on dealing with any unhelpful environmental factors that may be driving them to substance use.
They also have a similar program dedicated to helping young adults (aged 18 to 25). Understanding that individuals in this stage of life have very specific needs as they seek to establish themselves and start families, this program offers individual and group therapy, as well as access to a peer support network. In this program, their goal is to help these clients set and reach attainable goals that support long term sobriety as well as success in other parts of their lives.
Addiction Treatment Services for Adults
YCCC’s treatment program for adults similarly combines individual and group counseling, but with a much heavier emphasis on community support groups. They have groups for general recovery support, parenting skills, bereavement support for those who’ve lost loved ones to addiction, as well as a women’s support group and case management services. These services mean that you never have to feel like you’re alone on your recovery journey.
