About Warriors Heart
Warriors Heart is a veteran owned organization that offers substance treatment programs and mental health assistance designed specifically for men and women who’ve served in the military.. Their Ranch facility, located in the ranchland about 2 miles northeast of Bandera, Texas, is one of two locations in Texas where they offer their inpatient treatment program.
Their programs are open to veterans, active duty personnel, National Guard members and reservists. Police and other first responders can also receive treatment here. They accept clients who are on Tricare and offer special patient financing solutions as well as a limited number of scholarships to warriors and families who need the help.
Dignified Healing In A Tranquil Setting
Their residential program comprises around six to eight weeks of living in a structured yet peaceful environment where their team provides confidential and compassionate care. They can provide detoxification services if needed and use individual and group counseling to help you build the strength and skills needed to overcome addictive behaviors. Their philosophy is that no soldier fights their battle alone, and so they use the support and camaraderie within the group to encourage you further along the recovery process.
The Ranch itself offers wide, open spaces where one can train, meditate, process and heal in peace. The facility has biking trails, a pool, a private lake and a fitness center. Bandera also has a few notable landmarks and museums you can visit if you’re looking for a short break from the Ranch.
Great Activities To Help Occupy Your Mind
One of the best parts about the Warriors Heart program is that they have several electives you could engage in to occupy your mind between treatments, counseling, meals and scheduled activities. They offer yoga, art classes, woodworking, and metalworking classes, all of which can give you something unique to focus on and pursue during the residential program.
The most notable of these electives is their K9 therapy program, during which you spend time with a K9 service dog and learn the ropes of becoming a service dog handler. This program is especially valuable to those with PTSD.
