About Timberline Knolls Partial Hospitalization Program
Timberline Knolls’ partial hospitalization program operated for more than 20 years but has since closed. They were a residential addiction treatment center for women and adolescent girls who were struggling with addiction and other co-occurring mental health conditions, such as depression, eating disorders or trauma. The center was located in Orland Park, Illinois, an affluent suburb of Chicago known for its extensive retail, dining and parks.
Intensive Residential Treatment
Timberlake’s residential program was available when you needed 24/7 supervision or intensive programming in a safe environment. They focused on individualized service based on an intensive evaluation. During a typical day, you could have participated in group sessions that dealt with coping skills or food discovery. Experiential groups that may have included recreational activities and supervised outings and psychoeducational and process groups.
Flexible Living Arrangements for Outpatient Treatment
Most women also took part in individual therapy and family therapy sessions. After completing the residential program, you could transition to one of their outpatient programs, including a partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient program. These provided a structured environment while allowing you to live at home.
The staff also offered flexible living arrangements, which meant you could choose to stay at one of the on campus lodges instead of returning home. This program provided you the opportunity to practice your coping skills in real life and a supportive living environment.
Outpatient programs also used evidence-based modalities and included a discharge plan to enable a smooth transition into the community. Former patients were grateful to Timberlake for providing a safe environment where their lives changed.
