About The South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse
The South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (SSCASA) is a nonprofit with an extraordinarily long history dating back to 1967 of providing accessible, life saving help to adults facing addiction. Situated in western Hazel Crest, Illinois, their massive campus is a place where clients receive inpatient and outpatient treatment options. They also oversee a peer-led sober living home that provides individuals in recovery with a safe and nurturing community.
Building a Solid Foundation
The Council’s residential program typically runs for 28 days. In this time, you’ll participate in several group counseling sessions and daily recreational activities that include fitness and creative writing. The team also features daily individual therapy and has mentors who provide encouragement and guidance throughout the program.
Sober Living with Safety & Independence
The South Suburban Council’s sober living home is their other residential option. In this setting, men and women have a lot more freedom to find work, attend school, and participate in support groups while being able to continue living in a drug free environment. The residence itself is led by staff who’ve been through a recovery program themselves, giving them the empathy and insights to provide the best, most relevant leadership.
