The Dunes East Hampton in Southampton, New York, is a luxury rehab and treatment facility situated on 17 acres of land and is nestled in the privacy of a wooded area near Wooley Pond and the greater shoreline. They’re LegitScript certified and have been recognized by Dan’s Best of the Best.
Syndrome Models of Addiction Treatment
The center uses the Syndrome Models of Addiction Treatment Method which was developed by their Senior Clinical Advisor, Dr. Howard Shaffer. Dr. Shaffer is also employed at Harvard and Cambridge. The method operates on the principle that psychoactive substances (drugs and alcohol) and frequent behaviors (gambling) shift the chemistry of the brain and states of emotion.
If you have an addiction problem you have experienced the three Cs: Craving, loss of Control, and continued use despite Consequences. Therapies used with this method include behavioral approaches, spiritual counseling, family and experiential therapies, psychodrama, recovery theater and pharmacotherapy.
Long Term Residential Treatment
The level of treatment chosen for you will be determined after your evaluation and assessment. The residential program is a 90-day long term treatment program.
You’ll be referred to residential treatment if you’ve a co-occurring mental health disorder, have relapsed after prior treatment, or need a private and sober place away from your home for treatment and recovery. Many people tend to be more receptive to treatment while in an environment that makes us feel comfortable and receptive. Therapy includes yoga, shiatsu, meditation, biking, sailing, and nature walks.
Intensive Outpatient Addiction Treatment
After residential treatment, clients transition to their intensive outpatient program. You’ll participate in group therapy which consists of smaller groups of eight or fewer clients.
In group sessions you will learn how to prevent relapses and facts about addiction. If you’ve been diagnosed with a co-occurring disorder, a gambling addiction, or a shopping addiction, you will receive treatment and therapy for this as well.
