About Roads to Recovery
Roads to Recovery is a nonprofit recovery community organization serving individuals with substance use disorders in Central Virginia based in Lynchburg. Founded in 2013, the organization offers peer recovery support services and residential recovery homes.
The center based programs are led by Certified Peer Recovery Specialists with lived experience of addiction and recovery. Roads to Recovery provides a long term recovery management model that meets people where they are, addresses stigma and supports sustainable lifelong recovery.
Peer Led Recovery Support and Residential Programs
Roads to Recovery operates seven residential recovery residences accredited by the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences (VARR), including two homes designed for women with their children. Single gender homes feature 24 hour supervision, house managers and structured open ended length of stay to support sustained recovery.
The Recovery Center hub provides center based, peer led programs with up to three 3 hour sessions per week, individual recovery coaching and peer led relapse prevention groups. Staff serve as recovery mentors and system navigators. This helps residents develop life skills, access employment assistance and address practical needs like housing and family reunification.
Long Term Recovery Management Philosophy
Roads to Recovery takes a long term approach to keep you engaged for at least a year, which contrasts with traditional time limited treatment models. Daily 12 Step meetings, SMART Recovery meetings and wellness activities foster community accountability and stress management in a supportive recovery environment.
